DIY Inspiration

I think I am going to call: Denim skirts are making a comeback. Hence why I love this skirt by Ksubi Kustom.

Pity about the price, just means I will have to DIY it!

Tumblr Goodness

I stumbled upon this Tumblr a few weeks back and have been infatuated ever since, it's called Fashion Industry Confession -and well the title is quite self explanatory.
Some of the 'confession' are more like opinions about models/designers/company's, but some are juicy tip offs. Nonetheless its as addictive as heroin (well as addictive as I imagine it to be).

Opinion: Real versus Fake

Heaps of people say they would never buy a fake but when real cost upward of a grand why should should we fork up so much of our hard earned cash just to buy legit. As a die hard Balenciaga fan who will never be able to afford my favourite brand, I have found my self twice in the last week buying knockoffs. The first being Jeffrey Campbell's Roscoes Cut out boots being a rip off of Balenciaga's Buckle Ankle Boot and the second being ASOS's knock off of Balenciaga's Special Presentation runway shirt.

Top left, Top Right, Bottom Right, Bottom Left,

I feel so divided about buying knockoffs on one hand I feel like I am engaging in the sartorial version of pirating but on the other I feel like I shouldn't have to miss out on great design because these company's want to maintain their status and hence engage in ridiculous pricing. But then again is it ridiculous pricing or is $1,275 what it costs to produce a pair of boots.

Then the question also is what if you don't know Jeffery Campbell boots are ripoffs, is ok then. Then it would mean the more you know the more expensive you're wardrobe is. As the latest styles trickle down from the high end brands to the high street brands isn't virtually everything a knock off of something else. Eventually (if it hasn't already occurred) there will be no such thing as a new design, so is their a given point someones dibs on a design runs out?

So I suppose what I am asking beyond is it ok to buy fake is, do these luxery brands prcing really reflect their cost of production. I think its the answer to that which tells me if its ok to buy fake.

But what do you think? Is ASOS's copies daylight robbery or is it a bit of Robin Hood's stealing from the rich and giving to the poor ?

DIY - White T-shirt Makeover: n#1 Shredding

I have recently been inspired to upcycle plain white t shirts
This is my first try at shreding and it's incredibly easy.

 Instructions after the break!
What you need:
1 white t shirt (i got mine in 2 pack for $9)
Scissors

What you do:

1. Cut of the bottom of the shirt and the sleeves, like so

2. Start shredding, you will notice the loops of the cut edge of the fabric, pull at this loops,
then keep pulling
3. And pulling and pulling
4. Until it looks somewhat like these, but you can do it as much or as little as you like,I only did my back and bits of my sleeves. Thats the beauty of DIY is that you can decide how much or how little you like

And If your still stuck check out this video
Tips: Just remember that shredding will make your top bigger, so however you like you shirt to fit normally downsize from that. Wash on gentle in a laundry bag I just made my new favourite top for only $4.50! xx P.S tell me how yours goes!

Favourite Five Friday: Jackets

I have never really been a jacket person,
I look at them and I like them but I just don't have many
Lately my procrastination has got the better of me and I have stumbled upon these beauties

5. The Coat Jacket

This coat looks so warm and fuzzy but at the same time is so kick ass
(Sadly and happily winter is coming to an end :): )

4. The Sport Jacket
I don't really do that much sport, so this jacket would kinda help me look like a do do a lot of sport
and it look cool

3. The Slouchy Jacket

This jacket by lazy oaf looks so fun, Lazy Oaf's cloths always have a humorous element

2. The Grunge Jacket
It reminds me of the nineties, and at the moment I wish I was born ten years earlier so i could experience the nineties culture but for now I will just settle with this jacket

1. The Blazer Jacket
I really really really really want a printed blazer short suit, their are just so fetch! (forgive me I watched mean girls today, great movie) Kind of like this one ( or exactly like it).

Click the picture for the links, they're all from ASOS anyway
I am such an ASOS whore,
